The Centenary Village

The Centenary Village is RBVE’s £28 million capital project that will deliver 100 extra homes for 100 veterans and their families by 2027. It’s a blueprint for how veteran care should look in the decades ahead.

Bringing together emergency accommodation, family homes, supported living, and adapted apartments in one connected community, it’s designed for veterans of all ages, with tailored support that evolves as their needs change.

RBVE is now in the final stage of delivering this award-winning development. The last 20 homes will be completed in 2027, creating one of the UK’s most forward-thinking veteran communities.

A Proven Pathway

The Centenary Village is part of a wider RBVE model that combines homes, employment, and community support in one place. Many residents begin in emergency accommodation, progress to independent living, and eventually move on to life beyond the Village, equipped with the tools, skills, and confidence to thrive.

For those with degenerative health conditions, there is permanent supported living with on-site care. For working-age veterans, it offers adapted homes and access to training, volunteering, and employment through Britain’s Bravest Manufacturing Company – less than a kilometre away.

RBVE’s holistic approach includes Step‑In, a grassroots programme that helps veterans strengthen family relationships, improve mental health and wellbeing, and build fitness and mobility

The Village also includes the UK’s first dedicated HMO for female Forces veterans with employment pathways, developed in consultation with the Office for Veterans’ Affairs.

Designed for Connection

At the heart is a two-storey community centre with an accessible gym, café, and IT learning suite. These spaces bring people together, encourage intergenerational connection, enable job coaching, and support fitness and mobility.

Veterans live side by side with their families and peers, sharing experiences and looking out for one another. It’s a neighbourhood built on mutual respect and shared experience.

Our supported living homes give residents with health needs the chance to live independently with expert carers close by. Many are active members of our accessible gym, and we are fundraising for a new partnership with Arthritis Action to strengthen our active living ethos and activity programme.

Help us Finish the Village

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, our homes are already changing lives.

But more homes are underway and we’re fundraising to deliver:

  • Mobility and fitness programmes
  • Employability coaching and placements
  • Mental health and welfare advice
  • Digital inclusion and peer support groups
  • Varied drop-in sessions including Involve Kent, Change Grow Live, and Specsavers

Through our Step-In programme, The Centenary Village is already helping more than 300 disadvantaged veterans overcome debt, financial crisis, relationship breakdown, diagnosis, mental health challenges, and homelessness. Veterans travel from across the UK to access emergency support and join our forward-looking community.

Every donation helps veterans find safety, rebuild confidence, and take control of their future.
