RBVE: A VALOUR Recognised Centre for the South East
Royal British Veterans Enterprise (RBVE) is a VALOUR Recognised Centre for the South East, helping to better support veterans of all ages and their families across Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey, Oxfordshire and Bedfordshire. As part of the regional VALOUR network, RBVE works alongside the Veterans Outreach Service (VOS) based in Portsmouth to strengthen access to high‑quality support across the South East.
As part of the national VALOUR system, RBVE provides a trusted, accessible front door into support ensuring people can get the right help, at the right time, without being passed from service to service. Since 1919, RBVE has provided the kind of coordinated, person‑centred support that VALOUR seeks to embed across the UK. Becoming a VALOUR Recognised Centre gives us the opportunity to bring that approach to many more people.
What is VALOUR?
Kent opens first VALOUR-recognised centre in new UK-wide veteran support system – GOV.UK, led by the Office for Veterans’ Affairs (OVA) within the Ministry of Defence. It is now beginning its national roll-out, starting with RBVE.
Support can be accessed:
· Online through the VALOUR website
· In person at VALOUR Recognised Centres like RBVE’s ABF Community Centre
· Through MOD Veterans Services, which provides case management and accepts referrals via digital form, email or phone
How VALOUR Fits With RBVE’s Holistic Model
RBVE has delivered a holistic model of support since its foundation, bringing employment, health, homes, welfare, and wellbeing support together through a single coordinated pathway across our Village, social enterprises, and Lifeworks employability programme.
VALOUR strengthens and extends this approach by providing:
· a clear national front door into support
· improved coordination between statutory and third-sector services
· digital referral routes and better data sharing
· regional Field Officers to strengthen local partnerships
· a UK-wide network working to shared standards
Together, RBVE and VALOUR create a system that is easier to navigate, more consistent, and more responsive to individual needs.
Expanding Lifeworks Employability Support
RBVE’s Lifeworks programme is now available more widely across the South East, offering expert employment coaching for unemployed Forces veterans and their families, whether they are short‑term or long‑term unemployed.
- 38% of participants live with ongoing health conditions
- 64% access support for mental health
- Lifeworks is residential, providing a safe, structured environment to help people transition, manage health conditions and rebuild confidence
- Participants join an immediate community of veterans, creating peer support from day one
- Funded by donations and grants, meaning unemployed veterans never pay anything
- Attending Lifeworks will not affect your benefits
